Not the One You May Be Thinking, But….

On this date in 1969, Robert Fiehler died.  However, it was not the Robert Fiehler who was a well-known resident of East Perry County and a huge supporter of the Lutheran Heritage Center & Museum.  That Robert Fiehler would also be well known for his son, Gerard Fiehler, who is one of the members of our Research Crew here at the museum.  This is a different Robert Fiehler.  Yet, despite tat fact, this Robert Fiehler also as connections to Perry County.

This Robert Fiehler was born in Frohna, Missouri in 1900 to Carl Benjamin and Tillie (Boehme) Fiehler.  He also married Meta Gemeinhardt.  That is certainly another Perry County name.  However, Perry County is not where this Robert Fiehler ended up.  He and his wife are buried in the cemetery in Potter, Nebraska.  One of these days, we are going to do a blog on Potter, because that little town in western Nebraska became the home to many former Perry County residents.

You don’t have to look long at a photo of that cemetery to know that it is not located in Perry County.

The St. Paul’s Lutheran cemetery is packed with people who have Perry County names, but that is a story for another day.

By the way, there is a rumor floating around that today is Gerard Fiehler’s birthday.
