Today, you will read the story of yet another character from that photo. His name is Heinrich Lohmann, who is the young man standing in the back row, the second person from the left.
Heinrich Johann Lohmann was born on January 23, 1885, the son of Heinrich and Christine (Steffens) Lohmann. We have a photo of Henry’s parents.
So, Henry was Henry, Jr. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Missouri. Below is his baptism record.
We see Henry in his first census when the 1900 enumeration was made. He was 15 years old, and his father was a farmer. Since this image is from that year when the Salem Township was so difficult to read, I enlarged it to give you a better chance to find Henry, Jr.
The wedding photo shown earlier was taken in 1905, so Henry was still a bachelor at the time. Next, we find Henry, Jr. in the 1910 census. He was a 25 year-old farm laborer, working on his father’s farm.
Now, we will turn our attention to Henry’s bride, who also happens to be today’s birthday girl. Anna Marie Meyer was born on April 9, 1889, the daughter of Joachim and Engel (Meier) Meyer. A post was written about her parents titled, Meyer-Meier Marriage. Anna was also baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar. Here is her baptism record.
When Anna was quite young, a photograph was taken of Joachim, Engel, and Anna.
We find Anna in the 1900 census at the age of 11. She was the oldest child in her family. All 4 of the children who lived to adulthood in this family were girls.
A photo that must have been taken shortly after the time of the above census shows 3 Meyer girls.
When the 1910 census was taken, we find Anna living in another Meyer household working as a 21 year-old servant. I was not able to determine if this Meyer family was related to Anna’s family, but I suspect they were.
A family photo of the Joachim and Engel Meyer family was taken showing all 4 of the Meyer girls. I am fairly sure that Anna is the second person from the left in the back row.
Henry Lohmann married Anna Meyer on April 14, 1912 at Salem, Farrar. The church record for this wedding is displayed below.

We just so happen to have a wedding photo of Henry and Anna that shows the entire wedding party.
The church marriage record lists the people standing in the back row of this photo, but I do not know who is who. Seated in the front on each side of the married couple are the hochzeitsladers…the wedding inviters. They have their special hats sitting on their laps. By reading the post, One of the Hochzeitsladers, you will find out more about what task these two had performed for this wedding.
A plat map produced in 1915 shows a parcel of land that belonged to Henry Lohmann. Both Henry, Sr. and Henry, Jr. must have farmed this land.
Henry Lohmann, Jr. had his World War I draft registration completed in 1918. Henry was not called to serve during this conflict.
Henry and Anna have 7 children listed in our German Family Tree. We find the following household when the 1920 census was taken. Henry and Anna had 3 children listed. They were living in the household of Henry’s father, Henry, Sr.
We find the Lohmann’s in the 1930 census with all 7 of their children. Henry’s father had died in 1924, but his mother was still living in his household.
Finally, we see Henry and Anna’s family in the 1940 census. Henry was a farmer all his life.
In 1942, Henry, Jr. had his World War II draft card completed.
Anna Lohmann died in 1968 at the age of 79. Her death certificate is shown here.
Henry Lohmann, Jr. died in 1972 at the age of 87. He died too recently to be able to view his death certificate. Henry and Anna are each buried in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Farrar.
Who knows? Maybe I will end up writing yet another post about someone or something that is found in the Brueckner wedding photo of 1905.

In the blog about the wedding of Henry and Anna Lohmann, the picture of the wedding party was shown and you mentioned that you had the names of the wedding party but didn’t know who was who. Would you please give me those names as I think the woman on the left was Anna Lohmann, my grandmother, but I’m not sure. My grandmother would have been the groom’s, sister. Thanks.
