I will enter the maze of the Stueve family today. I bumped up against even more difficulty when I discovered that I think I have already done about 5 stories involving men named John Stueve. Because of that, I will call today’s birthday boy, John F. Stueve. Like yesterday’s male character, John F. found a … More John and Bertha – St. Louis Stueve’s
My grandmother’s name was Bertha Schmidt. I have discovered several Bertha Schmidt’s while researching for this blog. Some of them, like my grandmother, became a Bertha Schmidt by marrying a Schmidt. Others, like a character in today’s story, were born as Bertha Schmidt. I will eventually include her in this story, but I will begin … More Ben and Bertha
The surname, Weber, is one that has several different clans. We find this name in the records of almost every Lutheran church in this area. There were a few Weber’s that were part of the Gesellschaft that arrived in 1839. Others arrived later and settled in different parts of Perry County. Today, you will hear … More Henry and Amalia Weber – The Other Weber Farm
In the process of telling today’s story, I will divert my attention to baseball. While researching today’s characters, I discovered that several local businessmen attended a special St. Louis Cardinals’ baseball game. I feel compelled to tell the story of that game as well. This post begins with a girl who was born on this … More Brazeau Barber Beholds Burleigh Baseball

One of today’s main characters is the son of one of the proprietors of the Frohna Flour Mill. This son went on to be involved in the operation of the Frohna Feed Store. I have to wonder how these two businesses were related to each other. However, I am temporarily located near Chicago, Illinois and … More Frohna Feed Store
For a few days, I am once again working at a disadvantage. I am not in Altenburg, so I cannot get images of church records or use some of my strategies for locating hard-to-find census records. I chose a story today that would not enable me to display many images even if I was still … More Karling-Klemp Kouple
I am going to return to some characters that were previously discussed in a blog post. However, I wrote that post back in 2016, and I was not very thorough. Plus, that post especially highlighted the wife in the couple. Today, I will make sure to give more details about both the man and woman … More Fort Wayne Physician
The month of March is celebrated as Women’s History Month. In addition to that, some Lutheran schools in the United States still celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week during this week in March. I know our local Lutheran school is celebrating this week. I ran across a character today that may just fit into both of … More Granddaughter a Music Teacher in Chicago
The main character in today’s post has just one lonely document indexed in our German Family Tree. As you can see, Theodore Meister was born on this day in 1876, making him today’s birthday boy. A previous post, The Senior Meister and His Angel, was written about his parents, Anton and Gabriele (Hopfer) Meister. There were … More The Meister, a Twin, and a Minnie in Capp’s Creek
