We are on a little vacation with friends for a few days, so you a getting another previously published post today. This one was first shared online on this date in 2018. It was one that was a bit unusual for this blog because June 18th was a date of some deaths on that date. I do not often use a date of death as a starting point.

This story has personal connections. It focuses on my cousins in the Schlimpert family. My father’s sister, Lorna Schmidt, married Oscar Schlimpert, so that is how the Schlimpert family made their way into my family tree. Of the 5 Schlimpert cousins who made it to adulthood, only two are living, and they no longer live in Altenburg. However, there are plenty of my cousins once, twice, or three times removed who still can be found in the Altenburg/Frohna vicinity.
