The Hunt Is Back On

Although I am back in Altenburg, other obligations keep me from researching and writing today. That means I am once again sharing an old post. This one was written 5 years ago on today’s date. It told the tale of a rather large Hunt family that resulted from a marriage between George Hunt and Martha Ruehling.

I have lived in Altenburg now for 15 years. During my time here, the man with the Hunt name that I first became familiar with was my mailman named Norman “Butch” Hunt. He was one of those good, faithful men who carried on his occupation without fanfare. Sadly, not long after his retirement, Butch died in 2021. Butch was a descendant of the Hunt’s highlighted in the attached story. A link to his obituary is provided here.

Here is the photo of Butch attached to his obituary.

Butch Hunt

Hunting is an activity carried on by many local men, women, and even children in East Perry County. I think it is only right that a prominent surname in this community is Hunt.

I am not a hunter, but I will soon be back on the hunt for another new story to publish tomorrow.
