We are thrilled to announce that the repairs and renovations to the protective canopy over the Log Cabin College have been successfully completed!
Thanks to the skilled work of Marler Construction, the canopy has not only been restored but thoughtfully enhanced to continue protecting this cherished structure for years to come. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail truly brought this project to life, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

In addition to the structural work, Marler Construction helped us solve a long-standing issue that has challenged us for years. As part of the stabilization system, guy wires extend from each side of the cabin to the canopy. While effective in keeping the cabin secure, they had one unintended consequence — they became an ideal perch for birds. And as we all know, wherever birds perch, the ground below tends to suffer!
When we asked if they had any ideas to help, the Marler team came up with a creative and effective solution to discourage birds from using the wires as perches — a simple but effective fix that will make a big difference for our visitors and the maintenance of the site.

The Log Cabin College is a landmark rich in history, and preserving it is a responsibility we take seriously. The canopy plays a crucial role in shielding the building from the elements, ensuring its legacy endures for future generations.
A sincere thank you to everyone who has donated to this effort. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised about 60% of the total cost. If you are able to help us close the gap and support the remaining expenses, your contribution would be greatly appreciated. You can donate here.
We invite you to come by, see the improvements for yourself, and celebrate this exciting milestone with us.
