About a week ago, I wrote the story of a Gruber girl who married a Grotz in Nebraska. Yesterday’s tale was about a Gross in Gordonville. Now, today, you will read the story of a Gratz in Pocahontas. I seem to be stuck in the “Gr” section of the German Family Tree. Katherine Gratz was … More Katherine and Her Austrian and German Husbands
Today’s pair was first mentioned at the end of a post titled, Meyr or Meyer?. That post stated that Ernst Meyr and his wife, Magdalena, must have decided to change the spelling of their surname from the Austrian spelling, Meyr, to the more common spelling of Meyer. So, today, when we focus on one of … More Ted and Bertha – The Meyr’s (or Meyer’s)
Previous posts have mentioned characters who had their beginnings in the Shawnee Township, but later migrated south to Cape Girardeau where they established a business known as the Landgraf Lumber Company.
