On Valentine’s Day, 1886, Rev. C.F.W. Walther united Rev. John Jacob Trinklein and Sarah Buenger in marriage in St. Louis, Missouri. In doing so, Rev. Walther was officiating at the wedding of his niece, the daughter of his wife’s brother, Herman Buenger, a druggist in St. Louis. Rev. Walther was getting up there in years and would die about one year later. Rev. Trinklein was a circuit rider in Texas who was involved with helping establish dozens of congregations there. This couple later served in congregations in Sioux City, Iowa and Frankenlust, Michigan (an area where Rev. Trinklein was raised).
