This week at the Museum…

Each day at the Museum brings a different story. The last couple of weeks we’ve enjoyed stories with a wide variety of focus. Family with area roots that know that we will respect and care for their family heirlooms, tourists that are just passing through Southeast Missouri and heard that this is a “good place to visit,” families visiting for family reunions, people with and without “Lutheran Roots,” some just come to shop our gift shop, families enjoying our service of family genealogical research resources. There is never a “typical” day.

Yesterday, July 20, we were pleased to welcome the Perryville Leadership class from the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce. This eight-month program is sponsored by the Chamber. The members of this program come from a variety of businesses…banking, construction, travel, plumbing, and many more. The eight areas of focused learning include: enterprise, industry, healthcare, agriculture, education, government and tourism. Each month there is a different Perry County focus. Since tourism is the Museum’s main focus, it was an honor to host Perryville Leadership at our site. We are grateful to Trish Erzfeld, Perry County Heritage Tourism Director and Jackie Wengert, Executive Director of the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce for bringing this group of bright professionals to visit. We enjoyed treating them to traditional coffee cake or “kitchen” from our local bakery!

Hopefully you can see that here at the Museum, there’s never a dull moment…family, area history, artifacts, education, research, locally made crafts…all things center around our mission to preserve and promote the history of our area. We invite you to come and visit and tell your story or just learn more about your family or other local happenings. Our expansion is nearing completion with plans for a grand opening and ribbon cutting in late October. Our doors are open seven days a week, 10:00am-4:00pm for your enjoyment! We look forward to having you visit us at the Museum!
