Since I am now in Seward, Nebraska at Concordia College (which will always be Concordia Teachers College to me), I decided to pull up a previous post that told of a connection between Perry County and Concordia, Seward. The video at the end of this article shows Dr. Gerald Pfabe. Later this week, as part of our college reunion, we are scheduled to have a presentation by him on the history of this college. I am really looking forward to that.

My Grandfather, Edward Marty graduated from Seward in 1922. His first Call was to the Perryville Lutheran Church (Immanuel?). He told us a story about the Seward campus was about to be attacked by locals against Germans during Worl War One. The School Headmaster was a guy from Texas who strapped on his six shooters and ten gallon hat and confronted the mob and was able to chase them off. Somehow, setting the outhouses on fire was also part of this story, but I can’t remember the rest of the details.
