Today is a day when I had a men’s Bible class to teach this morning and a bus tour at the museum later, so I have decided not to take the time to write a new story. In the process of looking for a previous post to republish, I discovered that it was 5 years ago on October 3, 2018, that the home that had once housed the family of Dr. Theodore Estel burned to the ground. I was able to take some photos on that day and wrote this post about that fire the next day. Since my Bible class meets at the Old Bank Coffee Shop that is presently housed in the old bank building that shows up in some of the photos, I was able to take a few pictures of what this area looks like now. One photo below shows the vacant lot where the Estel house had previously stood. The other shows a newly refurbished building that once housed the Neubeck Store and the Citizens Electric Company that is also described in that post. It is now called the Citizens on Main building.

I could say that changes are happening in Altenburg. I have written about some buildings that have disappeared from the Altenburg landscape. At the same time, there are several other historic buildings that have been restored so that this little town can retain some of its historic character.
