I am going to be a little bit selfish today because I feel obligated to recognize the 150th birthday of Henry Loebs. He was born in St. Louis on December 12, 1873. Henry is connected to my Schmidt family in two ways. First of all, he was the first husband of my grandmother, Bertha (Mueller)(Loebs) Schmidt. Ancestry.com designates Henry as being my step=grandfather. In addition to that, Henry’s mother was Marie Magdalena Schmidt, who was my great grandfather’s sister. Ancestry.com describes her as being my great grandaunt. Henry is also a special character in the family tree of two special workers at our museum, Gerard Fiehler and Carla Grebing.
