Etzold Extras

I do not have time to write a full-fledged post today. What I will do in the short time I have is share some photos that were sent to me yesterday by Sherry Gibbar, a descendant of the characters in yesterday’s post. Sherry is the granddaughter of Alfred and Bertha Etzold. She reached out to me because she read in yesterday’s story that I did not have many photos for the Etzold’s. She proceeded to send me some. I will share some of them with you today. First of all, here is the wedding photo of Alfred and Bertha (Hadler) Etzold.

I am also now able to show a photo of Alfred’s parents, Martin and Selma (Stueve) Etzold. Here is their wedding photograph.

I can now backtrack to the previous generation and show you a photo of the Herman and Ernestine (Jacob) Etzold family. The baby in this photo is Martin Etzold.

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that Martin Etzold moved his family to Sylvan Grove, Kansas. Alfred was the only member of this family to remain in Perry County. The photo below shows the Marin Etzold family in Sylvan Grove.

Finally, here is a wedding photograph of Alfred’s son, Milton, and his wife Mary Ann Lohmann, also Sherry Gibbar’s parents. I will also add that Sherry sent me some Lohmann photos that may be used in future posts.

Photos like the ones above really add to the stories I tell on this blog. I am thankful when I receive pictures like this. Our musuem’s collection of digital photos like this continues to grow. Digital images of photographs make it possible for people to share their family photos with us without them actually giving us the photographs. All that needs to be done is for someone to take a photo of a photo with their smartphone and get it to us at our museum. We now have an additional e-mail address that will forward such e-mails to me. That e-mail is blog@lutheranmuseum.com. Special thanks go out to Sherry for sharing these photos with us, and I can assure you that these photos are still hanging on her wall at home.
