Today’s post will be short but (hopefully) sweet as I’m not at the museum today but home working on taxes (amongst other things). Definitely not my favorite thing to do, but not doing them generally doesn’t go over very well.
Lots has been happening recently at the museum! Here are some highlights:
Embroidery Exhibit Closing Soon
Our embroidery exhibit has been a hit with visitors, but if you haven’t seen it yet, time is running out! Fran and her team will be taking everything down next Friday, March 28th, and returning the pieces to their creators. Be sure to stop by before then to see these stunning works up close.
Ann Hazelwood’s Doll Quilts Coming Soon
In the coming weeks, the embroidery exhibit will make way for a new one—Ann Hazelwood’s beautiful doll quilts. This exhibit promises to offer a delicate and colorful perspective on quilting, and we’re excited to share it with you.
1925 Tri-State Tornado Exhibit Extended
The 1925 Tri-State Tornado exhibit will remain on display at least through April. If you haven’t had the chance to experience it yet, we highly encourage you to visit before it’s gone!
Littge Exhibit Area Renovation
We’re currently painting in the Littge exhibit area of the south gallery. While a few areas still need touch-ups, the sky is now painted blue! Next up: clouds and the installation of planes to complete the scene. Stay tuned for the final look!
New Display Case in the Big School
We’ve added a new display case in the Big School, showcasing some of the beautiful International nativity scenes from the Gloystein collection. It’s a stunning addition that highlights the diversity of traditions around the world.
Main Gallery Displays Getting a Refresh
Rearranging has begun in the hallway of the main gallery, and over the coming weeks (or months, depending on how things go!), we’ll be revamping the displays of the original 7 colonies. Our goal is to better tell the story of immigration and the communities that formed here.
If you haven’t been here lately, now’s a great time to come see all we have going on!
