String Music in Ft. Wayne, Indiana

I am watching a lot of basketball this weekend in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Some of you may be familiar with the phrase “string music” which can be used to describe a basketball shot that goes through the hoop without hitting the rim. A swisher. I know our granddaughters’ team had a bit of string music in their win yesterday. By the way, their team from Cross Lutheran School in Yorkville, Illinois won their game against Trinity Lutheran School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin by one point.

When I looked for an old story to share this morning, it did not take me long. Back in 2017, I wrote the attached story about Henry Feiertag who was a teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Not only that, but he specialized as a music teacher and was credited with starting an orchestra. How perfect is that. I found a post about a man who made string music.

Not only that, but tomorrow morning there will be a special early morning worship service conducted for the folks attending the basketball tournament, and it will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne. Sometimes God just winks at me.

  1. My late husband, Clint Haertling, taught at Cross Lutheran in Yorkville 1964 -1968. It was a much smaller school and congregation then. I don’t remember any athletic teams at that time.
