Christine (Lindner) Reisenbichler – Born and Married on November 27th

I found today’s story because the featured couple was married on this date, but I later discovered that the bride not only got married on today’s date, November 27th, but also was born on this date. So, she could be classified as today’s birthday girl and anniversary bride. I will begin by discussing her early life.

Amalie Christiane Lindner was born on November 27, 1874, so today would be her 151st birthday. Perhaps I should have written her story last year on this date when she was celebrating her 150th birthday. Her first name is spelled Christine on her gravestone, so that is the spelling that I will use. Christine was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Oberndorfer) Lindner. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, but because I am not in Altenburg during the next few days, I am not able to acquire an image of her baptism record. Christine is found in the 1880 census at the age of 5. Her father was a farmer in the Brazeau Township.

Since we cannot view the 1890 census, the above census entry would be the only one in which we can view Christine as a single woman. So, we will now look at the man who would become her husband. His name was August George Reisenbichler, who was born on August 24, 1872. August was the son of George and Maria (Schupfer) Reisenbichler. Here are photos of August’s parents.

August was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, but I am also unable to display his baptism record today. August is found in the 1880 census at the age of 7. His father was a farmer in the Shawnee Township of northern Cape Girardeau County.

Despite the fact that August and Christine were born and raised in different counties, they did not live very far from one another. They lived just across the Apple Creek from each other. On November 27, 1895, August Reisenbichler married Christine Lindner at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. That means that Christine was married on her 21st birthday. I am able to display a civil marriage record from Cape Girardeau County for this pair.

According to our German Family Tree, this couple had 3 children. Two of their children were born prior to the 1900 census. The Reisenbichler’s were living in the Brazeau Township of Perry County. They were living in the household of Christine’s parents. August was helping his father-in-law on his farm, along with Christine’s brother, Henry Lindner, and August’s younger brother, Paul Reisenbichler. August and Christine had 2 children at this point in time.

The above census would be the only one in which August and Christine were living in Perry County. By the time of the 1910 census, they had moved back to the other side of the Apple Creek into the Shawnee Township. Their 3rd child had been born, so we see all 3 of the Reisenbichler children in this entry. Christine’s mother was also living with the Reisenbichler’s. August was a farmer.

Next, we find the Reisenbichler’s in the 1930 census. Christine’s mother had died in 1911, so she was no longer living with them.

In the 1940 census, August and Christine had an empty nest. August was still farming at the age of 67.

Christine Reisenbichler died in 1942 at the age of 67. Her death certificate shown below says she died of a cerebral hemorrhage. It also says their farm was located one mile south of New Wells.

August Reisenbichler would get married again in 1943. His second wife was Louise Lichtenegger, whose maiden name was Pfeiffer. Louise was the widow of Fred Lichtenegger, who had died in1927. August and Louise were married on October 2, 1943. According to the Missouri marriage license displayed here, they were married by a pastor, but I am not sure what congregation he was serving.

In the 1950 census, August and Louise were living in Pocahontas, and it says that August was retired.
