The birthday girl for today’s post is Emilie Amalie Rosalia Frentzel. She would go by the name Emily, so I will use that name. She was born on July 26, 1895, so today would be her 130th birthday. Emily was the daughter of Alvin and Elizabeth (Ruhkopf) Frentzel. Emily was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church … More Master Sergeant Clyde McClure – U.S. Army
On several occasions on this blog, I have referred to a “neighborhood”… a rural neighborhood … near New Wells as the Koch-Koenig-Haertling Neighborhood. We will be heading back to that neighborhood today. After all, today’s couple was made up of a Koenig and a Haertling. And it just so happens that the husband would be … More New Wells Koenig – Bicentennial Birthday
Yesterday, I wrote the story of a life-long single woman whose middle names were Maria and Martha. I know it made me think of the Biblical story of Mary and Martha. I guess that is why I noticed today’s birthday girl and decided to pursue her history for a possible post today. Her name was … More Herman Koenig’s Huge Family Tree
Today’s main character, Charles Frentzel, lived in a variety of locations and was married to 3 different women. Charles outlived all 3 of those wives, and he himself did not make it to his 60th birthday. From what I see in the documents for Charles, I come to the conclusion that he lived a rather … More Charles Frentzel’s Tragic Life
Ernst Rudolph Koenig was born on June 12, 1890, so he is today’s birthday boy. Rudolph would be 135 years old today. He was the son of Immanuel and Clara (Weinhold) Koenig. The bride and groom in today’s story have been mentioned in at least 3 previous stories. However, those posts have always been about some of their children. Today, I will attempt to tell the tale of the parents. I will begin with the groom. Johann Thomas Hooss was born on January 8, 1844, the son … More Thomas and Kate – Perryville Hooss Hotel Keepers

I would describe the post that I wrote yesterday to be a “Dambach Downer” story because there was so much tragedy involved in the life of a person named Dambach. While I was writing that tale yesterday, I had no idea that I would find the story of that Dambach’s brother for today’s post. And … More Another Dambach Downer Story
I will be telling the tale today of a couple that was married on April 7th. The bride had her beginnings in Friedheim, and the groom had his start in Uniontown. Like so many couples over the years, this pair would migrate to the big city of St. Louis. Sadly, the wife died at a … More Martin and Amalie – St. Louis Meister’s
I thought I had one of those stories for today that would celebrate a 150th birthday, but there is also a definite possibility that the birthday girl would be celebrating her 151st birthday. In the course of telling this story, I will give evidence why our German Family Tree includes the possibility that today would … More Henry and Rosie – Perryville Schrumpf’s
