The birthday boy in today’s post is Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Wilke, who was born on September 15, 1856. That means today would be his 170th birthday. Henry was the son of Friedrich and Caroline (Oehl) Wilke. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. We can view his baptism record from that congregation’s books … More Henry and Katherine – Friedheim and Lixville Wilke’s
I have been inside Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, which had its cornerstone laid in 1857. The pews are not that long. So, when a man becomes the father of 19 children who are found in our German Family Tree, most of which have baptism records in the Trinity, Friedheim’s books, that family must have … More Klaus Fruitfulness Fills Friedheim Pews
My searches for stories have led me to find several recent tales centered on the village of Friedheim. Today is another one. It is one that has its beginnings in or near Friedheim, and it ends in Friedheim. I will begin with the groom. Henry William Pohlmann was born on August 20, 1887, the son … More Henry W. Today’s birthday boy would be celebrating his 150th birthday. The story of him and his wife has some missing pieces, so I will just do my best. Charles Friedrich Ruesler was born on March 4, 1876, the son of Wilhelm and Louise (Dickmann) Ruesler. Charles was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. We can … More Charles and Emma – A Ruesler/Grebe Pair

The woman who is one of the main characters in today’s story had two husbands during her lifetime and both of them had served time in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. I often begin these posts with a birthday boy or girl, and there is certainly such a person for today’s story, but … More Schindler’s List of Two Civil War Veterans
I must admit that when I found a potential story for today that involved a bride and groom named Klaus and Lohmann, I immediately thought that I would have to go to the books of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar to get some images of documents. That is not the case. Instead, I discovered that … More Some Friedheim Lohmann’s
Plenty of posts have been written on this blog about individuals who had the surname Oehlert (pronounced Ale-ert). I think only one previous story mentioned an Oehl (pronounced Ale), but you are about to read another one today. But before we get to an Oehl, though, let’s take a look at today’s birthday girl. She … More Friedheim Oehl’s
This seems to happen often. I did not intend for this to happen. You are about to read the third post in a row that mentions someone who was tied to the congregation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, Missouri. It happens more than I expect that stories seem to pop up out of our … More Carl and Caroline – A Friedheim Couple
