I decided to take a day off from writing today. So, I thought I would republish an old story. Then, I realized that since we began this blog in 2016, there have been only two February 29th’s that have occurred during this time. And on one of those occasions I wrote a story about someone born on February 28th. But I did write this story about Peter Ludwig 4 years ago. That means today would be Peter’s 46th birthday. I remember Peter’s life was quite an interesting one, so I am sharing it again today.

February 29th brings up interesting situations. For example, I was once on a faculty on which we had a teacher who was born on February 29th. When I was teaching there, we made a big deal out of the fact that he was finally becoming a teenager. Now, more than 20 years later, he is turning 20 years old today (if you just count how many times he actually celebrated his birthday on February 29th). I saw him recently and told him that on his next February 29th birthday in 2028, he would be old enough to buy beer.
