I have no story to tell today. I just want to make an appeal. This request is made because there are some improvements being made at the baseball/softball field in Altenburg. As near as I can tell, the athletic association that was involved in operating a local baseball team was established back in the 1930’s that used this ballfield. I would like to write a post that tells a bit about the history of the ballpark in Altenburg…possibly including the field in Frohna. Gerard looked for some old photos taken of the baseball/softball field in years gone by, and he basically came to the conclusion that our museum had none.

So, I am asking our readers if they might have photos in their collection of pictures. If you do, we would appreciate it if you would send us digital copies. You can easily take a photo with a smart phone and that would do. We would love to see some early action shots of men and women playing ball on the field. It would be especially interesting if we could locate any photos of the lights being installed there. Photos of the grandstand, concession stand, fences, crowds, teams, and such would be greatly appreciated. It would even be better if people in the photos could be identified.
