I am back home in Perry County, but today I have a regular doctor’s checkup and some errands to run in Perryville.
The attached post that was written on this day back in 2017, tells the story of Margaret Lang. It is the tale of a woman who managed to marry two Rauh brothers. Margaret is today’s birthday girl, and this time, she would be celebrating a very special birthday. If she was still alive, her birthday cake would have 175 candles on it.
I am going to point out two more things that are happening today. First, I am sure that you are all aware that today is Veterans Day. We would like to honor all those men and women who have blessed their country by serving in one of the branches of the military during their lives. Our museum has a permanent display that recognizes the service of East Perry County natives. It includes past uniforms of members of all of the branches of the military (except for the new Space Corps). If you have not yet seen this exhibit, you should really come for a visit.
Having said that, perhaps today is not the best day to view that exhibit. A group of volunteers will be in our museum today and the rest of the week putting up our annual Christmas exhibit. For a few days, our building will be a bit of a mess as these folks work on that display. The end result, however, will be an astounding exhibit. The official opening day for that Christmas display will be November 15th, and it will remain up until January 15th. Start planning your trip to visit us.
