Hemmann/Frentzel Wedding – 181st Anniversary

Several members of my family will be gathering at what the sports world calls an important game today. I will join that group in attendance at the Ole Miss/Georgia game in Oxford, Mississippi, although I will not be entering the stadium. My location for the day is the popular gathering place in Oxford called The Grove. That means I once again do not have time for research. So, I am once again sharing an old story that you may or may not want to read.

This post tells the story of one of the sons of the illustrious J.G. Hemmann, who married a woman with another another famous Uniontown name, Frentzel, on November 9, 1843. It was one of the earliest marriages in Perry County, and this particular one ended up in relocating some Hemmann’s to the New Wells area.

I hope you have an enjoyable Saturday. As for me, I will attempt to stay dry under a tent on this day which has a rather rainy forecast.

  1. This is my family. Thank you for sharing all of this. Esther Irene Hemmann Weinhold was my great grandmother and spoke fluent German to me as a child. Her daughter, Vivian Alice Weinhold Williams was my grandmother. (She died when I was 7 years old.) She was baptized at St. Pauls. I was born in 1970 is St. Louis. Both were present at my baptism at Messiah Lutheran Church. Esther “Nonni” passed when I was 10 years old. She was living with us at the time. My father, Richard Arnold Williams, was also baptized at Messiah as an infant. He passed in 2016 and is buried in Jefferson Barracks, along with his parents, Vivian and Arnold Treadwell Williams.
