Today’s post is going to be more about asking favors than anything.
We hope you agree that the Lutheran Heritage Center & Museum is a special place. It holds the stories of families who came here with faith, courage, and very little else. It preserves the history of a community shaped by that heritage, and it gives researchers and visitors from all over the country a place to connect to something deeper than dates and documents—roots.
And while we’re grateful for every visitor, every donor, every volunteer—truthfully, we need more people to know we exist.
So here’s the favor:
Would you help us spread the word?
You don’t have to make a speech (unless you want to). Here are a few simple ways you could make a big difference:
- Follow our Facebook page if you haven’t already. As you may remember, we had to start a new page back in September after losing access to our old one. That old page had over 2,500 followers. Our new page is sitting just under 500 followers, and we’d love to rebuild that community. The more followers we have, the farther our reach goes.
- Share our Facebook posts. A like, a comment, or a share really does help others discover us.
- Tell a friend or relative. Maybe someone you know is just starting their genealogy journey—or loves church history—or is planning a road trip.
- Bring someone with you. You might be surprised how many people say, “I had no idea this was here!”
- Consider printing and posting the flyers below at your church, local library, community center, or anywhere else people might take an interest.
These flyers were recently mailed to LCMS churches within roughly a 100-mile radius of the museum. If that describes your church, we’re hoping they’re already up! If you happen to see one, would you mind sending me a quick note? It would be wonderful to know which congregations are helping promote us.

Thanks for your help! If you have an idea for how we can reach more people, we’d love to hear it. Send us a message or stop by!
