I am not a blog writer this weekend. Instead I am a volleyball spectator. Our twin granddaughters are participating in the Illinois Lutheran State Volleyball Tournament in the Edwardsville/Collinsville area. As is often the case when Grandma and I are away from Altenburg and are busy with grandchildren, I am sharing a previously written post. The one attached below is one that was written on this day back in 2017. One of the reasons I chose it is because it is packed with plenty of photos.
This post tells the story of one of Joseph Weinhold’s 8 daughters. Joseph was in the habit of inviting Lutheran Seminarians from St. Louis to visit his home in Wittenberg over holiday weekends because he knew they were not able to travel to their homes for those holidays. Several of Joseph’s daughters ended up marrying pastors and teachers. The attached post is about his daughter Josephine who married Rev. William Boese who was called to serve St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Berlin, Ontario, Canada. Jospehine would go on to live more than a century.
My plan is to share another old post tomorrow.

It was a lovely surprise to see this blog pop up this morning in my email. Happy 149th birthday to my dear Great Grandma Jo! Thank you, Warren, for all the wonderful work you do!
