Assimilating American Ancestors

Five years ago, on the 245th birthday of our country, I wrote this article about the German Lutherans who began settling in Perry County and how important it was the them to become citizens of a new country. It looks as if it did not take them long to appreciate the newfound freedoms they found after entering the United States of America. I think it is appropriate to re-publish that story today, especially since I do not have the necessary time to write a new post. My wife and I are planning to get back to Altenburg today to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday there.

It is such a special day for America. Enjoy it. Celebrate it. Be thankful. To God be the glory. Stay safe.
