Total Solar Eclipse 2.0

Today is the day when the folks in Perry County, Missouri will experience the second Great American Eclipse in 7 years, and our Lutheran Heritage Center & Museum is expecting a very busy day. We have over 200 Lutheran school students who have decided to experience this astronomical rarity with us. So, I have no time for researching for a new blog post. Instead, I am going to share some posts that have been published on this blog about both the 2017 eclipse and this year’s event.

First, here is a post that promoted the 2017 eclipse prior to it occurrence. This post was first published in 2016.

Solar Soothsaying

Since it occurred during the year when we celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, this next post called it Martin Luther’s Eclipse.

Another post written back in 2017 highlighted the eclipse and other astronomical events from the past.

I posted some photos that I took during the 2017 eclipse on the day after it occurred.

Here is a post that was written earlier this year to promote today’s solar event.

A Special Transit – Be Prepared and Be Here

One more. This is a tongue-in-cheek post that was meant to give people a few chuckles.

I would also like to share a few observations I have made about this year’s eclipse.

  • Local residents have been spending time spiffing up their properties in preparation for hosting visitors in town today. It’s similar to what takes place every September prior to the East Perry Community Fair.
  • In the past few days, we have seen folks from distant places around town who have Perry County roots. The eclipse has become the reason for several family reunions to take place here this weekend.
