I will be spending this weekend enjoying what might be described as a grandchildren’s sports experience. My wife and I will be privileged to watch twin granddaughters playing in a volleyball tournament in Chicago and a grandson playing football. So, you get to read an old story today.
I chose this previous post because the main character, Rev. Richard Biedermann, would be celebrating his 160th birthday today. Rev. Biedermann’s ministry took him to quite a few places around this country, including the nearby Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells where he was baptized, so I find it to be an interesting tale to retell. In order to get to Chicago, we had to drive through Springfield, Illinois yesterday. Rev. Biedermann ended his career as the president of Concordia Seminary when it was located in Springfield.
Let me remind you that our museum has a new Facebook page, and we are continuing our efforts to get the word out to those who were the followers of our previous page. We urge you to share today’s post with as many of your Facebook friends as you can if you use that social media platform. It will help our museum’s mission of educating people about the history of Lutheranism in East Perry County.
