A Teamster’s Wife

We have a 125th anniversary to celebrate today.  On July 26, 1891, Emmanuel Fischer and Agnes Boehme were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.  Rev. P. Roesener was the pastor.

Agnes Boehme was the daughter of Carl and Ernestine (Schlimpert) Boehme.  Sadly, Agnes only lived to be 34 years of age.  She and Emmanuel had two children before her death.

Emmanuel Fischer was the son of Friedrich Albert and Emma Maria (Palisch) Fischer.  His marriage to Agnes was the second of his three marriages.  In the 1900 census, Emmanuel is described as a teamster.

Both Agnes and Emmanuel are buried in the Trinity, Altenburg cemetery.

This post enables me to mention that this coming weekend there will be a Boehme Reunion held at Immanuel Lutheran Church here in Altenburg.  Members of our research crew have been invited to speak to them about some of the resources we have here at the museum that can be used to look into a family’s history.  We encourage other families with Perry County roots to host reunions and include our museum into their schedules.
